Hi, I’m Ja’Quez Taylor

I am a passionate leader dedicated to advancing educational equity and fostering student success. My focus is on empowering lifelong learners with the tools and skills they need to thrive in college, their careers, and beyond—particularly within urban school settings.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Applied Cultural Thoughts from North Carolina A&T State University. Currently, I am pursuing dual master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Public Administration with a focus on policy and law.

My Professional Journey

I began my career as a teacher and went on to found 1-2-3 Express Tutorial Services, LLC, a successful tutoring organization in Thomasville, NC, where I served as CEO and Director of Operations. With over a decade of service and academic expertise, I recently rebranded my services as FuturePrep Consulting, LLC. This new venture focuses on coaching, mentoring, future planning, and professional development for middle and high school students, families, educators, and school and district leaders.

Throughout my career, I have taught elementary and middle school students across North Carolina, Tulsa, OK, and Dallas, TX. Later, I transitioned to becoming an Impact Manager/Coach with an education nonprofit in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. In this role, I provided professional/academic coaching, mentorship, curriculum instruction, and support to students, educators, and district leaders through innovative interventions.

Leadership and Impact

I have held various leadership roles, including elementary and middle school teacher, Impact Manager/Coach, Program Director, Director of Elementary Programs, and K-12 Education Consultant. Currently, I serve as the Assistant Director of TRIO Upward Bound at North Carolina Central University. My dedication to education has been recognized through several honors, including:

- Recognition as one of South Florida’s Top Black Educators (2021-2022 academic year).

- Elected as the youngest School Board Chair in North Carolina Public Schools. (Fall 2023)

- Acceptance into the North Carolina CREED Fellowship Program for Equity (2023-2024).

- Selection for the North Carolina Education Policy Fellowship (2024-2025).

- Recognized as Thomasville Black History 2025 Awardee for the 6th Annual Black History Month Celebration

- Recognition as Black Business Ink’s 40 Under 40 Most Influential African American in the Triad

- #TeachingInColor Educator of the Year Award 2025

My Personal Background

Originally from Thomasville, North Carolina, with a second home in South Florida, I enjoy traveling, spending time with friends, and exploring new interests. In my free time, I love reading, engaging in educational research, shopping, and delving into fashion.

My mission is to ensure all students, families, educators, and school and district leaders are supported throughout their public education journey. I firmly believe in the transformative power of public education, stating: “When we invest in public education, it benefits the economy and society as a whole.”
